Thru My Lens - behind the camera
For more than three decades, I served my country as an Army officer. Later, I answered another calling—serving as a pastor and chaplain. Those years taught me that life's greatest lessons are often found not in the noise of crowded places, but in moments of quiet reflection.
Today, you'll most often find me on a lonely Kansas backroad, standing beside a prairie wetland at sunrise, waiting beneath a canopy of stars, or watching wildlife move through landscapes that many people simply drive past. After years of hiking America's trails, photography became more than a hobby—it became the way I experience the world. My camera slowed me down. It taught me to notice the subtle details, the changing light, and the extraordinary beauty hidden within ordinary places.
I believe every landscape tells a story. Every weathered barn, sweeping prairie, mountain vista, and wild creature bears witness to the remarkable beauty and order of creation. My goal isn't simply to take beautiful photographs. It's to preserve moments that remind us to look a little longer, wander a little farther, and rediscover the wonder that still exists all around us.
Thru My Lens Photography, is my invitation to you to travel with me across Kansas and beyond as we explore forgotten backroads, hidden wildlife refuges, rugged landscapes, historic places, and breathtaking night skies. Whether you're here to enjoy the images, learn about the places I visit, or simply find a few moments of peace in a busy world, I'm grateful you've stopped by.
I hope these photographs inspire you to step outside, explore God's creation with fresh eyes, and discover that sometimes the most beautiful destinations are the ones few people ever notice.
Welcome to the journey.
I walk slowly.
Not because I have to -
but because there is more to see that way.
